We invite you to read the following information very carefully before contacting us to inquire about our puppies.Piccolo Orso breeds to improve these gentle giants. Our Newfoundlands are a passion and not our source of income! We do not believe in producing multiple litters per year...when you see a breeder that do this ask yourselves why he is doing it!There is a lot of planning and effort before the breeding happens. Many hours are put to seek the best pedigree and best stud. We have to study each dog in each line of the pedigree...we study for health, fault and great qualities. It is not only to take this bitch and this stud and create puppies! We strive to produce Newfoundlands that are healthy with excellent conformation, movement and temperament. Please be aware that this breed has many health issues and that we work very hard to eliminate as much as we can. Always remember that we do not have any control over nature and the genetics!All of our dogs are shown in conformation competition. Why? because we do not own our dogs only to breed them!! We breed to improve and the only way to see if we are improving is by showing them and putting them against other newfoundlands. Showing is not easy but all breeders should do it. If as a breeder you only breed and do not show how can you say you are following the breed standard and that your dogs are of excellent quality? Not all dogs will become great show dogs but at least you as a breeder will be able to identify the faults and the area where you should be improving.Our Newfoundlands are fed on a raw meat diet and are not overvaccinated. We encourage all of our puppy owners to learn about this way of feeding as it is the best for the dogs! Please ask us for more details! It is easier than you think and much better than the commercial food!All of our breeding stock is tested for hips dysplasia (OVC and/or OFA), elbows dysplasia (OVC and/or OFA), SAS (sub-aortic valvular stenosis) (Cardiologist /OFA) and cystinuria. All certificates are available to see.We put a lot of efforts in selecting the best possible families for our puppies. Each family must be met in person so that we can assure the best possible match. We strongly encourage each potential family to read on this breed and to make their homework. This little puppy of 25 pounds will soon turn into a giant that sheds, drools and needs grooming.Our puppies are all CKC registered, microchipped, received their 1st shots and leave with a written guarantee. They will leave our home at 10 weeks of age after seeing the cardiologist. We also ask that each puppy be spayed or neutered before the age of 12 months. If you are interested in a show/breeding puppy, please note that we will be co-owning the dog.
